Meditation Timer 1.3.1 README ============================= What does it do? ---------------- Meditation Timer beeps in regular intervals. That's it. Really. People use it during meditation in order to know when it is time for the next stage. To set you up for meditation, you choose the process you want, then you hit 'Start'. What about the options? ----------------------- On the main screen, you see a button, a popup trigger and several times. The times tell you how Meditation Timer will count and beep. Tapping 'Start' starts the current process. Tapping the popup trigger will show you a list of processes. You can choose one, or you can choose 'Edit List...', if you want to create, edit or delete processes. What is a Process? ------------------ A process is a simple counter. You define a process on the 'Edit Process' screen. The screen offers you the following options: Category: v ___________ You can assign the process to a category. This is helpful if you have lots of processes and want to organize them. Name: _________________ Give your processes names by entering them here. Total: _____ This field is used to define the total time this process should count. It is in hh:mm format. '0' means forever. This field is only visible if 'Define Total Time of Process by:' is set to 'Total Time' on the 'Preferences' screen. Stages: _____ This field lets you define the number of stages for the process. You can enter fractions here. Meditation Timer will automatically calculate the overall time for the process. '0' means forever. This field ist only visible if 'Define Total Time of Process by:' is set to '# of Stages' on the 'Preferences' screen. Interv: _____ This field lets you define the length of each interval. At the end of an interval, Meditation Timer will either issue a beep, vibrate, or both, depending on the preferences. [x] Auto Goto v ____________ You can check this box and select a process from the list if you want Mediation Timer to automatically start the next process once this one has finished. This field is only visible if the number of stages/total time is not 0. [x] Pause before Meditation Timer can wait between two processes if you check this box. This checkbox is visible only if '[x] Auto Goto' is checked. Pause: _____ You can specify the amount of time Meditation Timer should pause between two processes. This field is visble only if '[x] Pause before' is checked. Anything else I can change? --------------------------- Yes. Tap the menu icon, then tap 'Preferences'. The preferences apply to all processes. [x] Before Counting, wait ___s If you activate this field and type a number of seconds, Meditation timer upon hitting 'Start' will silently count down from the value to 0 before actually starting the process. [x] Countdown If checked, the counter will count backwards to 0. [x] Stop is Everywhere If set, Meditation Timer will stop counting when you tap the screen, even when you do not tap onto the 'Stop' button. Actually, the 'Stop' button will not even show up. [x] Chain to same Category only If set, the list of processes to chain will only contain those from the same category as the process you currently see. [x] No Sound If set, Meditation Timer will just count, but not beep. [x] Vibrate If set, and if your Palm OS device supports it, Meditation Timer will trigger the vibrating alarm when a stage is complete, and when the meditation is over. [x] Sort Processes Alphabetically If set, the list of processes will be sorted by alphabet. ATTENTION: Switching this preference off will not un-sort the list! [x] Play Sounds at max Volume If set, Foto Timer will beep at maximum volume. Otherwise, all sounds will be at 'Alarm Volume'. You can set the alarm volume using the 'Prefs' application on your Palm. [x] Use Up/Down as Start/Stop If set, you can use the PageUp and PageDown buttons on your Palm OS device to start, pause and stop the process. Define Total Time of Process by: # of Stages | Total Time This option lets you choose the way you want to enter your processes. If it is set to '# of Stages', you can enter a number of stages and an interval length. Meditation Timer will then calculate the overall length of the process. If the option is set to 'Total Time', you can enter a total time for the process and an interval length. Meditation Timer will calculate the number of stages for the process. What do the buttons do? ----------------------- 'Start'/'Stop' The Start/Stop buttons are used to start the process, and to stop it once it is counting. If '[x] Use Up/Down' is selected, the PageUp button behaves exactly like the 'Start' button, and the PageDown button behaves exactly like the 'Stop' button. If '[x] Stop is Everywhere' is set, there will be no 'Stop' button. Just tap the screen whereever you want to stop the process. Can I have multiple sets of options (processes)? ------------------------------------------------ Yes! You can define up to 32767 processes through the list popup in the middle of the screen. Tapping the trigger will display a list of all the processes and lets you choose one. Am I working on features for the next version? ---------------------------------------------- Not currently, but if you have a nice idea, just drop me a line.
